Certified Recovery Specialist
Certified Recovery Specialists (CRSs) are individuals in long-term recovery who are trained to support others on their path to sobriety. CRSs are trained and certified by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB). Using their training and personal experience, they provide support, guidance, and education to individuals, families, and communities impacted by substance use disorder.
What to expect while working with a CRS.
Guidance- Help individuals navigate the recovery process through support, encouragement, shared experience, and by demonstrating recovery-oriented behavior.
Education- Provide families with knowledge and tools to support their loved ones’ recovery journeys.
Connection- Assist individuals in connecting with treatment providers, community services, and ongoing recovery support.
Motivation- Offer motivation and practical strategies for those considering or pursuing recovery.
Awareness- Foster understanding and awareness about substance use disorder to reduce stigma and promote healing.
Trust- Build trust through empathy, active listening, and non-judgmental communication.
Collaboration- Coordinate access to essential services and strengthen community connections.
